I have spent most of my life taking care of my family, going to school, and developing a career within higher education. There have been many attempts at pursuing a "hobby", but nothing ever stuck. Over the years I have always made a conscious effort to take photographs at the usual events; school activities, family functions, vacations etc. Most of the time I have used a point and shoot camera or recently my iPhone. These options were sufficient to record the event and have something to look back on down the road, but weren't what you would call high quality photographs. Over the last six months or so I have made the decision to further develop my skills. My first step was buying a MacBook Pro. I'm still learning some of the features, but well on my way. I then invested in a higher quality scanner/printer/copier so that I can preserve photos that are starting to deteriorate. My most recent investment was my Canon Rebel T3i. Now I am ready to go!!!!
My first step was watching numerous YouTube videos so that I was able to use the most basic features of the camera. Step 2 was purchasing a Living Social deal for a digital photography workshop which I hope to take in the next week or two. I will post my photos on this blog so that I can monitor the progression of my photography skills. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated along the way!
Here are a couple from day 1.
